Mantras and Balancing the Chakras

Posted by Kate Gonzales on Mar 23, 2012 in Chakra Meditation

Mantras increase the flow of energy throughout the body and help ensure it is steady and uninterrupted. During chakra meditation, energy is transferred from one wave to the next. If there is interference with the energy flows than the waves also malfunction. Thus, an object of chakra meditation is to avoid interference with the energy flows through the chakras and nadis.

Acknowledging and feeling earth harmonics in chakra balancing meditation can accelerate the expansion of consciousness. The central role of earth vibrations in chakra balancing is indisputable. The most cherished mantras are said to be the primordial sounds of creation, including Om and Ah. Ancient religions tap into the vibrations of the earth in many other ways. Tibetan Buddhists use singing bowls to capture the harmonics of the earth. Think of earth harmonics as one of your tuning forks.

To stimulate this energy flow, we match the individual vibration of each chakra through mantras, music, colors and other techniques. Imagine what happens to the water wheels (chakras) in your body if the water flow (energy) slows or stops. Do you feel lethargic, unmotivated? To ensure your physical and spiritual bodies hum along at the right harmonic vibrations, balancing the energy flow in your chakra energy system should not be an occasional practice but part of your daily meditation and yoga routine.

For most types of meditation, choosing a mantra is a personal choice. Choose a mantra that resonates with you. A word with a meaning or sound that is significant to you is a good choice. Choose something with a universal meaning-happiness, peace, inner light, compassion. Do not choose a mantra that you strongly associate with a person, place or event. This may lead you to start making conscious associations and go off on a stream of consciousness in your meditation practice, which you want to avoid.

It helps to offset negative EMFS, sound clutter that can interfere with our tuning into the natural vibrations of the earth. At the same time you manage sound chaos, you can also reduce exposure to EMFS that are potentially cancerous. The danger of exposure from EMFs from power lines and, more recently, cell phones has been a controversial issue that scientists have left sitting on the fence. Shumann resonance harmonizers re-establish the balance of natural frequencies in one’s environment. Quartz crystals are used to create sound harmonics and cleanse the environment of electromagnetic clutter.

Silencing the Mind for Chakra Meditation

Posted by Jill Gonzales on Mar 21, 2012 in Chakra Meditation

Mantras are one of the most powerful tools we have for quieting the mind. They correspond with both a physical and spiritual vibration and assist us on our path to achieve oneness. The vibrations of mantras help bring about spiritual transformation by harmonizing with positive energies to clean out negative impurities and remove energy blockages.

If you have not been transported to these magical places, physically or spiritually, to partake in their sacred sounds and vibrations, there are many beautiful meditation recordings that capture the sacred sounds of the universe. Following are some of the sacred sounds you may want to use in meditation:Great pyramids – The harmonics of the Egyptian pyramids have been a source of mystery and wonder for thousands of years. It is now believed that acoustic sound vibrations were used in the construction of the pyramids. If they can levitate huge rocks, imagine what they can do for your spiritual transcendence. The sacred sounds of the pyramids are available on meditation tapes.

Ujayi breath is used throughout yoga postures to maintain a meditative state. It mimics the sound of the ocean. As we match the vibrations and resonate with this special sound, it helps us align our vibrations with universal energy. Breathe in deeply through the nose. Let the breath flow down through the diaphragm, pumping oxygen and nutrients through your system. Fill the diaphragm, and then let the breath rise out while activating the Chakras. Breathe out through the nose.Using Ujjayi breathing will help you achieve a meditative state faster. This breath, used in Hindu and Taoist yoga, creates deeper breathing rhythm and a nice full breath. It is associated with heat. Also called the Ocean Sound, focus on making the sound you hear when you put a seashell to your ear, magnify the sound.

Take a deep exhalation and maintain it until a natural inhale is required. Try not to hold the exhale too long. Like a singing exercise, you want to develop your lung capacity and be able to exhale for longer and longer periods of time. Stay attuned to your body’s rhythm and inhale before you feel the breath cutting out. Otherwise, your air passage, acting like a spring, encourages you to inhale to refill your lungs and diaphragm with air. This forced breath can cause you to be out of breath, or hyperventilate. Once you have achieved a state of rhythmic breathing, relax and let your mind take you there. The entire body falls into balance around your center of gravity. Body awareness helps to integrate mind, body and spirit. It is often combined with breathing. Synchronize your breath with your stomach (diaphragm) moving up and down, or Feel your nostrils fanning in and out with each breath, or Starting from your toes and working toward the crown of your head, feel each part of your body relaxing. Activate the Chakras as you move up your body.

Rediscovering sacred harmonics – Every ancient culture has sacred mantras and instruments that can introduce special sounds to your meditation which may be subtly different in tone and quality than any sounds you have experienced before. Like many cultures, Peru, for example, is rediscovering its art of making psychoacoustic instruments that expand the consciousness. A most cherished instrument in Peru is the Chimu water whistle, or huasco, which are water jugs used in sound healing. The process of exploration can greatly enhance your meditation practice. The term ‘sacred’ is associated with ‘ancient.” In fact, sacred also refers to the places on earth where the energy vortexes are the strongest, and that definition brings us back to the cities of light-by definition, the places creating the most sacred sounds on earth. Truth is, this author has yet to hear any sacred sounds from the crystalline cities of light that many have claimed have transported them to a state of bliss. If you happen to know of meditation recordings, please share them with us. Alternatively, to resonate with the sacred crystalline harmonics, some of you may visit the cities of light in your meditations

Taking Care Of Gaia’s Soul

Posted by Devi Dee on Mar 12, 2012 in Chakra Meditation

Gaia, our earth mother, has her own life force and her own path of unfolding, separate from us, but including us.

As we walk upon the earth, we walk upon a living being more similar to ourselves than we imagine. Just like us, the earth has both a physical body and an energetic body, complete with a chakra system identified by ancient mystics and modern scientists alike. Gaia, as the earth is called when acknowledged as a living entity in her own right, has her own life force and her own path of unfolding, separate from us, but including us. Human beings and Gaia are intertwined on every level, not just the physical, and an awareness of her chakras can help us to acknowledge, heal, and enable her on her path, just as she selflessly returns the favor to us.

It is generally agreed that Gaia has seven major chakras distributed evenly across her body and connected to one another via two lines of energy that intersect at various points on the earth. The first chakra is located at Mount Shasta in Northern California; the second is in Lake Titicaca in South America; the third chakra is in Uluru-Kata Tjuta in Australia; the fourth chakra resides in Glastonbury in England; the fifth chakra is at the Great Pyramid in Mount of Olives; the sixth chakra is in Kuh-e Malek Siah in Iran, and the seventh chakra is in Mount Kailas in Tibet.

In addition to her seven major chakras, she has minor chakras and other vortexes of energy that are significant to her life-energy system, and all these energy centers need caretaking. Just as we can heal ourselves through our own chakras, we can heal and support Gaia through hers.

While it would be a wonderful experience to visit one of the earth’s chakras, you can always participate in loving and healing Gaia wherever you are. Maintaining an awareness of the regions in which her chakras reside can be very powerful. You may place photos of the locales on your altar, sending healing energy to each of her chakras during your meditations. As you consciously connect your energy system to her energy system, the true meaning of groundedness reveals itself? it is a relationship with Gaia in which we acknowledge our calling as the caretakers of her soul.

How To Approach Life With An Open Heart

Posted by Devi Dee on Mar 7, 2012 in Chakra Meditation

Spiritual teachers have always pointed to the heart as the seat of consciousness, and recently Western science has found evidence to support this realization. Anyone who has taken the time to explore the heart knows this and, more important, has realized that the heart is the source of our connection to a consciousness greater than the ego. It turns out that the heart has its own central nervous system and is not simply under the rule of the brain as formerly believed.

To some degree, approaching life with an open heart is as simple as shifting your attention onto your heart. Approaching life with an open heart means that we have opened the door to this greater consciousness, taking up residence alongside it in the seat of our soul. Fortunately, at this time there is a lot of support for this shift energetically as well as practically.

Eventually you will be able do this any time, any place, but at first it may help to try it in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Simply sit with your eyes closed and draw your breath into your heart. As your breath expands your chest cavity, your heart expands and opens. You may feel tenderness or sadness in your heart, and you may also feel relief. Any emotions that arise can be effectively witnessed and healed through the meditation process, which benefits both your physical heart and your energetic heart.

Practice makes perfect and you will find your heart chakra opening to all around you and the situations in your life and what they bring.

Opening our hearts may make us feel pain or tenderness vulnerable, which simply means that they need our loving attention as we cleanse and heal them of past hurts and blockages. This process asks us to practice some of the heart’s greatest lessons-patience, compassion, and unconditional love. On the other hand, we may take up residence as effortlessly as a bird returns to its nest. In either respect, approaching life with an open heart simply means returning to our true home.

Balancing the Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Posted by Jill Magso on Mar 6, 2012 in Chakra Meditation

Our physical state mirrors our spiritual life. If you are unhealthy, feeling fearful and anxious and begrudge making any changes in your life, your chakras are surely unbalanced and blocked. Unhappy with your present state, you tend to dwell in the past or dream of the future. To restore the health of your root chakra, you must be focused on the here and now.

The first step to a balanced root chakra is living a balanced lifestyle. A balanced diet is a good place to start. Foods high in sugar and caffeine, and alcohol cause energy blockages and interfere with brain wave activity during meditation. Fresh fruit and vegetables help to open up the energy flows. Exercise and interaction with nature will keep you grounded with the earth.

There are many ways to activate your root chakra and bring it into balance. Chakra balancing techniques for the root chakra include: Meditation -Being rooted and grounded to earth’s life force has powerful symbolism. The vibrations of the earth are flowing up through your feet and coursing through the nadis and chakras. The harmonious vibration of the earth provides balance and vitality to the root chakra. You start to feel stronger mentally, physically and emotionally. You can survive anything. Mantras – The root chakra mantra is Lam. When you repeat it, the vibration should resonate with the heart chakra. If it does not, ensure you are in tune. It corresponds with the music note C. Music, including Chakra meditation recordings, frequency generators and singing bowls can help you access the right frequency.

Yantras – Since ancient times, meditating to the vibrations of sacred geometry has been practiced to balance the chakras. A Yantra is a symbol that may link up to an astrological sign, planet, date or something else of meaning to you. The root chakra yantra is a downward pointing triangle in a square.

In reality, chakra energy flows follow the pattern of an infinite spiral. The energy courses up and down the chakras. A change in one chakra affects the energy balance in all of the other chakras. A balanced root chakra centers the base, making it easier for the other chakras to fall into alignment. A useful analogy to think of is what happens when you give a spinning top a weak spin; the spin is slow and wobbly, and eventually the top falls down. A strong spin provides the energy to increase the speed and balance of the spinning energy vortexes of the other chakras.
